{"id":273,"date":"2022-02-13T09:59:21","date_gmt":"2022-02-13T09:59:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rcmi-cc.org\/?page_id=273"},"modified":"2023-02-14T23:05:32","modified_gmt":"2023-02-15T04:05:32","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/rcmi-cc.org\/conference2023\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"vertical-align:middle; float: left; width: 260px; margin-right: 15px; margin-bottom: 15px; border: 5px solid #495599; border-radius: 30%\" src=\"https:\/\/rcmi-cc.org\/conference2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/pexels-evg-kowalievska-1170979-scaled-e1669769852138-1000x1000-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"page-img wp-image-1207\">We unite academic researchers, medical professionals, and community partners through technology and innovation to reduce health disparities.<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:18px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI) Coordinating Center leverages the expertise and resources of member research institutions to accelerate the quality and pace of transformative research on diseases disproportionately affecting underserved populations and communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-tabs uagb-block-0cb755a2 uagb-tabs__wrap uagb-tabs__vstyle7-desktop uagb-tabs__vstyle6-tablet uagb-tabs__vstyle6-mobile\" data-tab-active=\"0\"><ul class=\"uagb-tabs__panel uagb-tabs__align-left\" role=\"tablist\"><li class=\"uagb-tab uagb-tabs__active\" role=\"none\"><a href=\"#uagb-tabs__tab0\" class=\"uagb-tabs-list uagb-tabs__icon-position-left\" data-tab=\"0\" role=\"tab\">RCMI CONSORTIUM GOAL STATEMENT<\/a><\/li><li class=\"uagb-tab \" role=\"none\"><a href=\"#uagb-tabs__tab1\" class=\"uagb-tabs-list uagb-tabs__icon-position-left\" data-tab=\"1\" role=\"tab\">OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF THE ANNUAL GRANTEES CONFERENCE<\/a><\/li><li class=\"uagb-tab \" role=\"none\"><a href=\"#uagb-tabs__tab2\" class=\"uagb-tabs-list uagb-tabs__icon-position-left\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tab\">ABOUT RESEARCH CENTERS IN MINORITY INSTITUTIONS<\/a><\/li><\/ul><div class=\"uagb-tabs__body-wrap\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-tabs-child uagb-tabs__body-container uagb-inner-tab-0 uagb-tabs__inner-tab\" aria-labelledby=\"uagb-tabs__tab0\">\n<p>Centers and with NIMHD staff to help the centers collectively achieve their objectives to: (1) enhance institutional research capacity within the areas of basic biomedical, behavioral, and\/or clinical research; (2) enable all levels of investigators to become more successful in obtaining competitive extramural support, especially from NIH, particularly on diseases that disproportionately impact minority and other health disparity populations; (3) foster environments conducive to career enhancement with a special emphasis on the development of early career investigators; (4) enhance the quality of all scientific inquiry and promote research on minority health and health disparities; and (5) establish sustainable relationships with community-based organizations that partner with RCMI centers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-tabs-child uagb-tabs__body-container uagb-inner-tab-1 uagb-tabs__inner-tab\" aria-labelledby=\"uagb-tabs__tab1\">\n<p>The RCMI Program Grantees Conference will bring together RCMI U54 PDs\/PIs and other senior scientists from each site, research project leaders, pilot project awardees, key community partners, and NIH staff to exchange information and discuss opportunities for collaboration and strategies for solving shared challenges in: (1) project administration and coordination among sites, (2) research resources to support scientific projects, (3) early-stage investigator development and mentoring, and (4) community<br>engagement. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-tabs-child uagb-tabs__body-container uagb-inner-tab-2 uagb-tabs__inner-tab\" aria-labelledby=\"uagb-tabs__tab2\">\n<p> The Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI) program develops and strengthens the research infrastructure necessary to conduct state-of-the-art biomedical research and foster the next generation of researchers from underrepresented populations.
